Ranger K9 is proudly South Australian, and we're a small business trying to make a big difference.

Every detail of the harness has been designed around the dogs I love.

Ranger K9 has developed a crash-tested dog harness specifically for vehicle travel. We are proud to be the first and only Australian brand we are currently aware of whose dog restraint has been tested to AS 5384:2023, the Australian Standard specifically covering seatbelt accessories, including pet restraints.

AS 5384 was introduced to provide minimum requirements for the design, construction and performance of seatbelt accessories and represents an important step forward in improving safety for products used inside vehicles. The standard specifically includes pet restraints within its scope. This standard also tests products to a higher G-force than FMVSS 213, the US child restraint standard that many products have historically been tested against, meaning it accounts for more severe crash conditions.

Because when a 20–25 kg dog is involved in a 50 km/h collision, their effective impact force can be equivalent to hundreds of kilograms. An unrestrained dog can become a projectile capable of seriously injuring themselves, their driver or other passengers.

A normal walking harness simply isn't designed for that.

And that's the message we want to help more Australian dog owners understand. We would never drive without a seatbelt, neither would our kids, so why should our dogs?

Our harness has an anatomical design that has been approved by a veterinarian and veterinary physiotherapist, with a focus on allowing natural shoulder movement and comfort.

Every material and hardware was specifically chosen for quality and strength. It features custom-made seatbelt webbing with a break load exceeding 1000 kg, custom 7075 aluminium buckles with tensile testing exceeding 700 kg per buckle and a load-bearing construction designed specifically for vehicle restraint.

Most importantly, this isn't a product I created because I saw a gap in the market.

I created it because I couldn't find something I was willing to trust with my own dogs Rio and Akela.

And now I want to make that level of protection accessible to as many Australian dogs as possible.

We believe our dogs deserve the same consideration for safety that we give ourselves and our families.
